What Our Clients Say . . .

“The complete art of Tai Chi is more than just a healthy exercise and meditation.  It is also more than just a superb combat science. In a way, it can be all of these, and much more. Tai Chi is a physical, mental, and spiritual discipline that has the potential to ask us about the deepest parts of our existence.” G.

Qigong

Qigong, also known as Taoist Yoga, can be translated as energy skill and involves a study of posture, breathing, meditation, energy fields, rhythms of the body, and the mind. Qigong was developed approximately 1,000 years ago by Taoist recluses searching for the secrets to long life and immortality. Although less well known than Tai Chi, Qigong is a powerful form of exercise that promotes health and well-being on all levels. Qigong is strictly a health-orientated way of training and has no self-defense applications.

At Mind-Body Consultants we teach Qigong with an emphasis on the health of the spine. The Taoists referred to the spine as “the pillar to heaven” and placed a great importance on its overall health. Through a study of efficient body mechanics, standing and seated meditation positions, and breathing patterns, we examine ways to remove unnatural stresses on the spine and joints. Progressively one will begin to see a reduction in chronic pain and stress levels and recognize the beneficial effects Qigong can have on health and well-being.

Some benefits of Qigong:

  • Better focus and discipline
  • General reduction in overall stress levels
  • Improvement in health, vitality, and sense of well-being
