Mind-Body Consultants
Mind-Body Consultants is dedicated to health, well-being, and helping you to find and express your power. Through the arts of Tai Chi and Qigong we teach efficient body mechanics, breathing exercises, meditation, mental-emotional awareness techniques and how all of these relate to our ability to access health, well-being, and personal power.
We believe that the natural, default state of the body and mind is health, not dysfunction. What prevents us from accessing our health and well-being is a combination of two factors: we are habitually seeking short-term physical and emotional comfort and our environment has been de-natured. Because of this we have essentially forgotten how to access our own health, well-being, and personal power. In order to access these powerful healing energies we need to address all levels: physical, mental-emotional, and spiritual.
3 Pillars of the Healing and Internal Arts
Physical Pillar
The physical pillar is dedicated to understanding how posture and breathing patterns are associated with stress levels and perception. Utilizing efficient body mechanics, we teach ways to move, stand, and sit that will actually take unnatural stresses off of the spine and joints. In the process we reduce or eliminate chronic pain and increase strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. With the Taoist breathing system we study the mechanics of efficient and inefficient breathing patterns and the connection between breathing and mental-emotional states.
Mental-Emotional Pillar
Exploring the Mental-Emotional pillar, we gradually develop sensitivity, self-awareness, an understanding of the role of the nervous system, and how our attitudes, beliefs, emotions, and thought patterns (both conscious and unconscious) affect the body. As we move toward sensitivity and self-awareness, we gradually become more conscious of our mental-emotional conflicts (both inter- and intra-personal), thought patterns, and how these relate to the physical tension we carry in our bodies. Through examining the nervous system, we realize how our mental-emotional conflicts and thought patterns limit the ability to relax, heal, and access our personal power.
Spiritual Pillar
In this pillar, spirituality is the desire to connect with something greater than ourselves, whatever this means to you. Tai Chi and Qigong are not religious in nature and are compatible with all spiritual beliefs and traditions. As we continue to develop the spiritual, we endeavor to consciously choose peace instead of conflict, humility instead of arrogance, compassion instead of judgment, and forgiveness instead of resentment.
